Why global auth providers keep failing Indian developers
We surveyed our own integration attempts. The failure modes are embarrassingly consistent.
1. Messaging priced as margin, not cost
OTP providers resell SMS/WhatsApp at 2-5x pass-through. NexAuth publishes the per-send cost table — BYO your own gateway creds and it drops to ₹0. Nobody else offers that.
2. WhatsApp as an afterthought
Your users live in WhatsApp. An "auth provider" that treats it as a premium add-on is missing the country's dominant channel. We built WhatsApp-first, SMS as fallback.
3. SDK gaps on the platforms that matter
Flutter especially — the biggest cross-platform framework in Indian startups, and major providers gate it behind enterprise sales or ship wrappers that break on SMS Retriever. Our Flutter SDK with animated OTP inputs + phone-number hint is a first-class package, not an afterthought.
4. Authorization sold separately
Auth0 charges extra for RBAC. Firebase gives you nothing. An app that can't do roles+permissions from day one isn't done — so RBAC is free forever in NexAuth.
5. Opaque everything
"Contact sales" for pricing, "enterprise" for features, "coming soon" for docs. We publish the price table, the API, the source-annotated docs, and the machine-readable skill your AI agent can integrate from one prompt.
